Some of Nashville’s finest are working their way into the Hollywood film establishment, as evidenced by the just-revealed nominees for the 2013 Golden Globe Awards.
Among those earning Best Original Song–Motion Picture nods from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association are “For You,” written by Keith Urban and Monty Powell and performed by Keith for Act of Valor; and “Safe & Sound,” written by Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars’ Joy Williams and John Paul White along with T Bone Burnett and performed by Taylor and The Civil Wars for The HungerGames.
Keith’s wife, Nicole Kidman, also earned two Globenominations, for Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion PictureMade for Television for Hemingway & Gellhorn, and Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for The Paperboy.
“The most rewarding gift for me as a songwriter is knowing that the song has somehow made a connection,” said Keith of his nomination. “I’ve been fortunate and moved to hear firsthand how it has impacted others’ lives. For that, and for this nomination, I’m so very grateful and honored. To wake up to this news, as well as to Nic’s two nominations, is absolutely beautiful. What a way to start the day!”
Additionally, Nashville stars Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere received nominations. Connie competes in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series–Drama category, for her role as the embattled Rayna James. Hayden’s performance as country upstart Juliette Barnes lands her in Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
