Tim Ross / Meterologist – News, Traffic, and Weather on 95.5 FM WSM, Nashville’s #1 for Country!

Tim Ross grew up in the weather turbulent Midwest, his eyes always upward with the approaching storms. Fascinated from a very young age, his career path was forged by a visit from the local TV Meteorologist at his school. Tim was also intrigued with personalities on TV and radio. He thought that Meteorology was the perfect marriage of the two worlds. 

Pursuant to his dream, at the age of thirteen, Tim and his cousin often “played DJ” over their HAM radio. Tim would also practice his radio voice by reading billboards his family managed and owned. Without even knowing it, Tim was mastering the voice that would soon become a familiar staple on radio stations throughout the Midwest. 

After receiving his Meteorology degree, he transitioned to television. When Fox television in Oklahoma closed its doors, Ross was offered a job at Fox television in Nashville. A few short years later, Tim moved over to WSMV-TV Channel 4, where he spent 8 years.

Porter Waggoner, one of Tim’s childhood heroes, appeared as a guest at the station. When Porter advised Tim that “The Porter Waggoner Show” had been taped in the very spot where Tim stood in the Weather Center, he believed he had come full-circle. However, it wasn’t until he got the call from the legendary 95.5-FM WSM to anchor the morning news, that he realized his dream to the fullest. “It’s pretty darn cool working for a station so influential in country music,” gushes Tim, who now serves as one of the few true Meteorologists (holding the coveted Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society) in the Nashville radio market, handling news and weather on 95.5-FM WSM (Weekdays 5-10 a.m.). In his spare time, he and his wife of nearly 35 years, spend time with their two sons, daughter and all the grandkids. Tim also devotes his talent to writing children’s books and playing the ukulele.
